How to Remove a Make Up Stain
So you take a look in the mirror and notice you have a make up stain on your shirt. Don’t fret! Follow these simple steps to remove that makeup stain.
-
First, and most importantly, do not rub it. For the best results, don’t even touch the stain until you have wet the area with cold water. Once you've thoroughly wet the area, you can proceed with the makeup stain removal process.
-
Liquid dish soap is meant to clean up after oily or greasy residue, and it works great on makeup stains because many cosmetic products are oil based. Squeeze a drop of dish soap onto the stain, and lightly scrub the area until the stain is out.
-
If the stain won’t budge, rub it with a bit of baking soda. Baking soda is a great stain remover because it is a scrubbing agent.
-
Wash the garment as usual. If the makeup stain removal was unsuccessful, repeat the steps above. But remember, do not place the clothing in the dryer until the stain has fully been removed or the heat from the dryer could cause the stain to set.
Makeup Stains on Furniture and Carpet
To remove make up stains from furniture or carpet, use a small amount of carpet cleaner. Try using a carpet shampoo made for oily or greasy stains.
If you don't have one available, use regular carpet shampoo or dish soap.
Wet the area, gently scrub the carpet with a cloth and your cleaner of choice, wash away the residue, and allow to air dry.
If your wall was somehow the target of a new makeover, simply grab a wet cloth, some rubbing alcohol, and some dish soap.
First, wipe the stain with a soapy, wet cloth. If it won’t budge, dab some rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel and have at it. The wall will typically wipe clean if the stain is fresh.
